The Papier mache - the art of the creation of objects from stick together layers of the paper and the glue or the modelling from the paper pulp. (the paper pulp – the mass giving to form, hard after drying up; it consists of: teared and soaked in water of the paper , binders – the glue, the gypsum, the starch and filler – the chalk). The papier-mache can take after many raw materials among other things: clays, woods, bronze, the stone. The art the paper mache appeared in II age AD in China.

The glue

The glue is material which accouples each layers of the paper. Thanks to him the model after drying up is hard.The traditional rule on preparations of the glue: to blend 1 part of water with 1 part of the flour.Some artists to prefer the boiled glue from mentioned components, speaking that so prepared has better, smoother consistency. The proportion of water to the flour is variable, eg.: 5 parts of water to 1 part of the flour. Other artists use in the proportion 3:1 or 1:1 waters and the white glue (eg. Wikol). To the glue you can add a little bit the cinnamon, to eliminate the unpleasant odour.

Below I publish example recipes (found in the internet) on the glue and the paper pulp:

Most simpler the recipe: Mix 1 part of the flour with 2 parts of water and mix till the glue will have the consistency of the cream (different artists use different proportions of the flour into the water);

The simple recipe on the glue from water and the flour - 1: Mix 1 part of the flour from about 2 parts of water, until the obtainment of the similar consistency to the consistency of the glue. If this necessary add a little flours or waters. Add several spoons of salt, to prevent to moulding.

The simple recipe on the glue from water and the flour - 2: Blend 3 parts of water with 1 part of the flour.

The recipe on the boiled glue from water and the flour - 1: To a big pot pour 4 glasses of water. Put the pot on cooker and bring to boil. Water let himself the moment was boiling, blend 1 glass of the flour with 2 glasses of water, well mix. When water is boiled carefully pour the mixture of water with the flour. Simmer by 2-3 the minute, till will be the equal consistency. Add several spoons of salt, to prevent to moulding. Cool before the use.

The recipe on the boiled glue from water and the flour – 2: Blend together: ½ glasses of the flour and 2 glasses of cold water. Add 2 glasses of boiled water and again boil all. Take off from the cooker and add 3 tablespoons of sugar. The mixture after cooling will thicken.

The very hard glue (after drying): ½ glasses of the wheat meal, ¼ the glass of the powdered resinous glue , ½ the glass of warm water, 1 and ½ glasses of the hot water. In the pot blend the flour with the powdered glue resinous. Add warm water – blend. Add the hot water and well blend, so that do not appear lumps. Cook over low heat all the time mixing, as long as the glue will not be thick, clear and smooth. Best results you obtain , using the glue by several days after the preparation.

The paper pulp

The recipe on the paper pulp 1: No matter which soft paper tear up on small fragments, puts into the metal or clay dish and floods with the hot water. The dish becomes covered , winds with towels and places on the twenty-four hours in the warm place. Next day soaked paper one heats up on the cooker, to boil, mixing with the wooden shoulder-blade. Boiled paper one puts then into the pouch, impresses water and with fingers creates small balls which must well dry. Dry small balls one rubs on powder. To receive the papier-mache to a number of powder one adds more or less such the same (weight-) quantity of broken and well sifted chalk, four to five times the smaller quantity of the potato flour and about ten times the smaller quantity of the carpenter′s glue. Paper-powder and the chalk one pours together and exactly mixes. From the flour one prepares itself glue augmenting him a little dissolved carpenter′s glue. This mixture one flows to the dish with powder receiving the not very thick dough. If necessary one can add the hot water.

The paper pulp 2: Tear the newspaper (the toilet paper, towels of paper) on small pieces, soak and blend adding quite a lot water. After blending drain off water on the strainer. Blend drained off paperwith 1 (or more) spoon of the white glue.

The paper pulp 3: Small pieces the toilet paper soak in water, and then exactly tear on the smooth mass with palms or blender. Soaked paper drain off on the strainer, and then put it to the bowl with the glue from the flour (recipes on glues above). The glue it should be a little less than the wet paper. Well to blend.

The paper pulp 4: Small pieces the toilet paper soak in water, and then exactly tear on the smooth mass with palms or blender. Soaked paper drain off on the strainer, and then put it to the bowl gradually adding 4-6 spoons of the glue to wallpapers (on 1 toilet roll). All the time mixing, add 3-4 the glass of the chalk.

The paper pulp 5: The newspaper, wrapt on small pieces, put to the bowl, pour waters, and leave overnight to the soaking. To blender add ½ of the glass of the flour, pour 2 glasses of water, 1 tablespoon of the white glue (eg. Wikolu), 1 glass of drained off on the strainer masses from newspapers. Blend.
